There’s enormous pride in being a Lancastrian but, as football fans will tell you, there’s no love lost between some of the towns. Also a business in Lancaster can reach London on the train in almost the time it takes to drive to the opposite end of the county.
That’s why we’re launching local groups for more regular engagement. Our pilot town is Burnley where we’re working in partnership with Burnley Council and Burnley Bondholders to get things done for the benefit of individual businesses, the digital community and Burnley itself. Already we’ve made huge progress, which you can read about here.
We’re now looking to set up groups in Blackburn, Lancaster, Preston, Blackpool and Skelmersdale. In Burnley they are looking at creating new office space, improved broadband infrastructure, hot desking facilities, apprenticeships, regular events, social gatherings and code clubs. However it will be the members of each group that will drive them forward. If you want to help set up a group, join one or partner with us get in touch.
Update: Our proposed Blackburn group is now well advanced with Blackburn-with-Darwen Council and The Hive. If you’re interested in joining then please get in touch.
